Biography

Roger's love for woodworking goes back to whittling sticks with his dad's pocket knife. From there he learned the craft of furniture making, and later professional carpentry.

Woodturning came along later in life, but it soon developed into his great artistic passion. Bowl making in particular. Beginning in 2010 he bought his first lathe and fell in love with making vessels. The phrase, “Life is too short to turn crappy wood” does not apply here. His vessels frequently contain a combination of inclusions, knots, worm holes, spalted (punky) grain, crotch grain, and an occasional rifle bullet.

For three years he sold his artwork at fine art shows around the country and has twice been galleried. He has presented bowl making demonstrations at the Hunt County Woodturners Association. He makes his home in Greenville, Texas with his wife, Leslie.
